Tourists were caught in an avalanche in the state of Sikkim. Rescuers removed 23 victims from under the snow and took them to the hospital.

In the region of the Natu-La mountain pass in western India, near the border of Nepal and China, on Tuesday, April 4, an avalanche descended, covering vehicles. As a result, seven tourists were killed, including a woman and a child. This was announced on Tuesday, April 4, by the NDTV channel.

The local tourism department said the avalanche hit the Nathu La mountain pass in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. At the time of the avalanche, it can reach 150 people.

In addition, an avalanche hit the Jawaharlal Nehru major highway, leaving five or six vehicles covered in snow.

Rescuers worked at the scene. They helped 23 tourists get out of the snow-covered area. The injured were taken to the hospital.

It is known that the search was stopped at night due to bad weather.

Over the past two years, avalanches on the Indian side of the Himalayas have claimed the lives of at least 120 people. Scientists say that due to climate change, the risk of avalanches has increased.

It will be remembered that one day in the north of Norway, many avalanches fell, which caused the death of four people, who were tourists.
