Apparently, even the Twitch CEO wasn’t prepared for the additional 9,000 layoffs. Amazon announced at the end of March.
CEO Amazon, Andy Jassi said on March 20 that the company would lay off another 9,000 workers, in addition to the 18,000 announced in January.
“Having completed the second phase of our operational plan this week, I am writing to announce that we plan to cut approximately 9,000 more jobs in the coming weeks, primarily in Amazon Web Services (AWS), PXT, advertising, and Twitch. It was a difficult decision, but we believe it will help the company in the long run,” the memorandum says.
Twitch CEO Surprised

However, he is “disappointed” with how Amazon announced measures that also involved staff from twitch.
“We planned to share this news with the company on the same day that we notified the affected people.
