Finland officially joined NATO and became its 31st member. This was announced on Tuesday, April 4, by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in a ceremony where Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto gave him the final necessary documents for it.
“Today we can announce that Finland has become the 31st member of NATO,” said Blinken.
The head of the US State Department emphasized that all the necessary formalities have been completed, and now Finland is a full member of the Alliance.
As is known, all NATO states have previously adopted the Helsinki application. Türkiye and Hungary were the last to do so.
From now on, Finland participates in all meetings and activities of the Alliance as a full member.
