The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a telephone conversation with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. Among the topics discussed was a new package of EU sanctions against Russia, the head of state said on Telegram on Tuesday, April 4.
“I am always in contact with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. I thanked for participating in the Bucha summit, discussed joint international events for the future. We touched on other issues of supporting Ukraine, in particular, the need to prepare the 11th package of sanctions and progress in implementing the recommendations of the European Commission,” Zelensky wrote.
Earlier, Brussels announced that Ursula von der Leyen will call on the President of Ukraine in the context of her visit to China, scheduled for this Thursday.
“The President will speak on the phone with President Zelensky today in the context of his preparations for this trip,” said European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer, announcing Von der Leyen’s visit to China with the French President which is Emmanuel Macron.
Earlier, Ursula von der Leyen bluntly stated that the EU’s relationship with China depends on Beijing’s position on the war in Ukraine.
