Lithuania has banned Russians from buying property in the country

The restriction will remain in effect until 2024. Also, the country’s parliament has suspended the issuance of new visas to citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus.

The Seimas of Lithuania on Tuesday, April 4, decided to ban Russian citizens from buying property in the country, due to national security risks. This was reported by Reuters.

It was noted that the restriction will be valid until 2024 and will not affect Russians who have received a residence permit in Lithuania.

Parliament also suspended the issuance of new visas to citizens of Russia and Belarus.

In addition, Russians and Belarusians who have previously issued visas will be subject to “individual extended checks” at the border.

It will be recalled that in December last year, the Lithuanian parliament voted to ban symbols of the Soviet and Nazi occupation of the country.
