The current US administration is “too concerned about how not to provoke Putin,” said the former head of the US State Department.
The current US authorities are not doing enough to support Ukraine, and what they are doing is not happening fast enough. This is what former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview with European Pravda, released on Tuesday, April 4.
“I believe that we are not doing enough to support Ukraine, and what we are doing, we are not doing it fast enough. The tragedy is that we could have given Ukraine such support, where it all ended — but we didn’t,” Pompeo said.
In his opinion, the American administration is “too worried about how not to provoke Putin.”
“This is the reason for the delays. Therefore, and because you did not receive long-term weapons and the like, the situation (at the front) is now the way we see it,” said the politician.
Pompeo acknowledged that there are those in both political parties in the United States who disagree with him, but, in his opinion, helping Ukraine is incredibly important for America.
“Xi Jinping is also watching us, because he understands that if the United States does not stand up for the people who are facing an onslaught of tyranny, it means that China can also feel free,” the diplomat emphasized.
Mike Pompeo expressed his confidence that the United States will maintain its strategy and hopes that the whole world will join them, and not just European countries.
It can be remembered that Mike Pompeo served as the Secretary of State of the United States in 2018-2021 under the administration of Donald Trump. He also headed the CIA.
The day before, Pompeo arrived in Ukraine and met with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
