The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about how many fighters are currently in service with the army.
We have three MiG-29 brigades, now we have received more of them from Poland. This is a historic step – the transfer of such types of weapons to Ukraine … There are five brigades of fighters, two Su-27 and three MiG-29 brigades. These are old Soviet fighters of the fourth generation, morally and physically obsolete. Of course, this is the first step in the transfer of this type of weaponry… This is a sign for others that they need to take the second and third steps, – said Yury Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He also added that the transfer of Polish and Slovak MiG-29s will somewhat enhance the capabilities of the Air Force’s fighter aircraft in carrying out current combat missions, but in no case will solve the issue of “counteroffensive” or “victory.”
To gain air superiority and victory, we need modern multi-purpose aircraft with a wide range of weapons, – summed up Ignat.
