The White House spokesman emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are still in Bakhmut, so the city did not fall into the hands of the Russians.
The US respects Ukraine’s decision to keep Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. This was announced on Monday, April 3, by John Kirby, coordinator of the White House National Security Council, Voice of America reports.
He noted that the Ukrainian side continues to stubbornly fight for Bakhmut, contrary to the claims of Russian propagandists.
The White House spokesman emphasized that the Ukrainian military was still in Bakhmut, so the city did not fall into the hands of the Russians.
According to Kirby, Bakhmut “is of great importance to Ukrainians, and of course, we respect and understand this,” adding that the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Bakhmut “will not change the dynamics of the conflict from a strategic vision.”
“But, as far as we can see now, the battle for Bakhmut has not ended, and the Ukrainians have not retreated. The battle continues to be quite fierce and close enough,” said the representative of the US National Security Council.
Remember, on the eve of the founding of the PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin released a video in which he said that the Russian flag was allegedly raised over the administrative building of Bakhmut, after which the city was “legally” captured by the invaders.
On April 3, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Alexander Syrsky, met with the defenders of Bakhmut and refuted the allegations of Russian propagandists about the capture of the city.
