The WBA has officially approved the fight of Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois.
Boxers were given 30 days to agree on the terms of the fight, if the parties do not agree, it will be put up for auction.
This is reported by the official WBA Twitter.
Recall that Usyk was supposed to fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion against Tyson Fury. However, the boxers failed to agree among themselves on the terms after lengthy negotiations.
The failure in negotiations with Fury led to Usyk having to defend his championship belts instead of unifying the titles. First in line was the WBA, which named Daniel Dubois as the official challenger.
In early April, the promoter of the Ukrainian boxer Alexander Krasyuk noted that two locations are being considered for the Usyk-Dubois fight: London and Manchester.
In December 2022, Daniel Dubois suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his last fight, a rematch with South African Kevin Lerena. However, representatives of the British boxer provided the WBA with confirmation that Dubois has resumed after the injury and is ready to fight Usyk for a championship fight.
It is not yet known what date the fight is considered by representatives of both boxers.
Dubois is a 25 year old British boxer. The Briton began his professional career in 2017. Dubois won his first battle at this level by knockout at 35 seconds into the fight. Dubois is a regular champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA).
In the professional ring, Daniel Dubois has played 20 matches. Eighteen of them the Briton won by knockout and lost in one.
