Russian law enforcement has reported the arrest of a suspect in the death of Vladlen Tatarsky.
Russian war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky, whose real name was Maxim Fomin, was killed in an explosion at a cafe in St. Petersburg. First, the wounded propagandist was taken to the intensive care unit, where he died. Because of the incident, 32 more were injured, 10 of them in serious condition.
Recall that on the evening of April 2, a Tatarsky creative evening was held in the cafe. According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred after one of the girls showed him a figurine – a bust of Tatarsky himself in a military helmet. Russian law enforcement suspects 26-year-old Daria Trepova of involvement in the explosion, the girl is already in custody.
Maxim Fomin was born in 1982 in Makeevka, Donetsk region. In 2011, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for armed bank robbery. In 2014, during the Russian invasion of Donbass, he escaped from prison and joined the ranks of the militants of the so-called “DPR”.
“In general, I escaped from prison, joined the ‘militia’. Then they put me back in prison. I was put back in the zone. But then Alexander Zakharchenko (the leader of the militants in the ‘DNR’ – ed.) ” forgive me,” he said.
In order not to sit in the trenches, Fomin decided to become a “blogger”, took the pseudonym Vladlen Tatarsky and moved to Moscow in 2019. Since the beginning of the mass invasion of the Russian Federation, he has been actively engaged in anti-Ukrainian propaganda. In December 2022, as a “representative of the Russian elite,” he was invited to Putin’s speech in the Kremlin.
Who is Daria Trepova
Daria is a native of St. Petersburg, he moved to Moscow about a month ago. The girl is the wife of Dmitry Rylov, a member of the unregistered Libertarian Party, who went into exile. He is also a suspect in the Tatarsky murder case.
It should be noted that on February 24, 2022, Trepova and Rylov were detained at an anti-war rally in St. Petersburg. They were then arrested for ten days.
“I believe that my husband was set up. I am absolutely sure that he could not do something like this on his own. Yes, with Daria, we really do not support the war in Ukraine, but we believe that such actions are unacceptable. I am 100% sure that he would never have agreed to this if he knew,” Rylov himself told SVTV News today.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has already reported on the detention of Trepova. According to Fontanka, the girl was found in the rented apartment of a friend of her husband in the Vyborgsky district of St. He allegedly bought an air ticket to Uzbekistan.

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia
In the video made public during the interrogation, Trepova said she was detained because she was at the site of the execution of the Russian military correspondent.
“I was imprisoned, I would say, because I was at the scene of the murder of Vladlen Tatarsky. I had a figurine there, which exploded,” said Trepova.
When asked who gave her this item, the girl replied: “I can tell you later.”
“Detailed Murder”
According to investigators, the suspect brought to the cafe a box with a figurine with an explosive device mounted on it, and handed it to Tatarsky. With the propagandist, according to RosSMI, he is familiar and often communicates.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the killing of the military correspondent was planned by “special services of Ukraine with the participation of agents from people working with the Navalny Anti-Corruption Foundation.” However, no evidence has been provided for this claim.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the operation to eliminate Tatarsky was prepared in advance, and many people took part in it, where the duties were shared, the RBC source said. The agency’s interlocutor said at the same time
Trepova may not have known that the figurine she presented contained explosives.
According to him, the criminal investigation officers are not ruling out that the girl was used in the terrorist attack.
Who can order Tatarsky
Russian media and social networks are spreading different versions of who might be behind the killing of the propagandist. The first, about which surviving colleagues of Tatarsky wrote furiously, was the operation of the SBU or the GUR.
Note that the Office of the President of Ukraine has already denied this. The adviser to the head of the OPU, Mikhail Podolyak, called the explosion in St. Petersburg “domestic terrorism.”
The killing of a military correspondent may also have been organized by partisans fighting the Putin regime. This version was presented by the leader of the Russian opposition Ilya Ponomarev. At the same time, he did not name any evidence for his version.
Another version is that the explosion was organized by the subordinates of the head of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin on his own instructions. As you know, Prigozhin had a conflict with the governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, and a high-profile “terror attack” in the city can present a picture that “the governor can’t handle.” That is, Tatarsky became only a victim of the struggle between them. We add that, according to preliminary data, the cafe where the explosion occurred belongs to Prigozhin.
And the latest version is that it was not a showdown and a deliberate killing of Tatarsky, but a specially organized “terror attack” on St. Petersburg for internal consumers of information.
