Iranian Shahed drones, which are actively used against Ukraine by Russia, are low-speed targets, which means that heavy machine guns are best used to defeat them.
This was reported on the Facebook page of the Command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is noted that drones, in order to avoid defeat and complete their task, constantly change routes: sometimes they fly in circles, come in from one side, fly by, then return again – that is, they are constantly trying to avoid Ukrainian air defense systems.
Although the saturation of the Ukrainian air defense system is constantly increasing, in particular thanks to Ukraine’s international partners, it is impossible to cover every square meter, the Joint Forces Command notes.
But we are trying to place mobile fire groups and anti-aircraft defense systems at suitable distances so that we can cover and insure each other, said Lieutenant General Sergei Naev, commander of the Joint Forces.
According to Naev, the enemy is trying to find a time when, in his opinion, the Ukrainian military should be tired.
Therefore, our anti-aircraft gunners are in constant combat readiness, they are constantly in cars and only on a signal turn on and go into combat readiness number one. Practice shows that anti-aircraft gunners will shoot down hostile targets day and night, including, – added the commander of the Joint Forces.
