Ukraine will buy 100 Polish-made Rosomak armored personnel carriers with funds from the European Union and the United States, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Saturday.
“The army of Ukraine will buy from us 100 units of Rosomak, which are produced in Siemianowice Sileski. Rosomaks are first-class armored personnel carriers. Payment for this purchase will be made in cash from European Union And USA”, he wrote on Twitter.
Rosomak is a licensed copy of the Finnish Patria AMV 8×8 armored personnel carrier, European Pravda points out.
The main armament of the armored personnel carrier is a 30 mm Mk44 cannon with a stabilization system and a 7.62 mm UKM-2000S machine gun.
Ammunition is contained in two compartments for cartridges of 30 mm caliber and 700 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber.
The publication recalls that the Polish government approved a national program to stimulate the production of ammunition in the amount of up to 2 billion zlotys (426.7 million euros).
European agreement
March 20, 17 EU countries and Norway agreed to jointly produce and purchase ammunition to replenish their stocks and meet the needs Ukraine.
The plan calls for the delivery of one million artillery rounds to Ukraine within twelve months.
Poland and Spain later joined this initiative. (As reported by EFE)
