The court session on choosing a measure of restraint for Metropolitan Pavel Lebed was postponed.
First, the lawyer of the representative of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate filed a motion to recuse the judge of the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kyiv, Vadym Kovtunenko, but the motion was dismissed. It is reported by “Public”.
Subsequently, according to TSN, the metropolitan complained of a deterioration in health, allegedly “due to the level of sugar.” The judge offered to call him an ambulance, but Pavel Lebed refused. Subsequently, it was decided to postpone the hearing to 9:00 on Monday, April 3.
The media reported that the prosecutor’s office petitioned for the election of a measure of restraint in the form of round-the-clock house arrest for the Metropolitan.
Recall that on April 1, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that they had informed Metropolitan of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate Pavel Lebed of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code: inciting inter-religious hatred (p. 161) and dissemination of materials justifying Russian aggression (art. 436-2).
Investigators have collected a reasonable evidence base regarding the involvement of the former rector of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in inciting religious hatred, justifying and denying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
