Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia will deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.
The European Union urged Minsk to deny Moscow the deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory. This was announced on Friday, March 31, by the Permanent Representative of the EU to the UN Olaf Skog, writes Ukrinform.
Skog emphasized that it is in Belarus’ power to refuse Russia and not allow the territory of a neighboring country to be used as a place for nuclear weapons.
“Therefore, we call on the Belarusian authorities to immediately stop supporting Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine and change their mind about the deployment of nuclear weapons. Their appearance on the territory of the Republic of Belarus will worsen just tension in the region,” Skog said.
He also called on the Russian Federation to return to implementing the agreement on measures to further reduce and limit strategic offensive weapons in the United States.
Remember, on March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow agreed with Minsk on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. China has reacted negatively to Russia’s plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
The head of the ruling regime in Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said that with the growing threat to the country, strategic nuclear weapons can be introduced and the infrastructure for this is ready.
