Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin assured that the productive work of the International Criminal Court will continue.
The International Criminal Court and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine will establish joint working groups to investigate specific criminal cases of war crimes. Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin announced this on the anniversary of the liberation of Bucha from the Russian invaders, writes Interfax-Ukraine.
“Today we heard unprecedented support from our partners…. We agreed a few days ago and today we jointly announced that we will create taskforce working groups on specific criminal proceedings, which we will be ready to be transferred to the International Criminal Court,” said the Prosecutor General.
Kostin noted that the first case in which a warrant was issued for the arrest of the Russian President Putin was a case in which “the ICC plays precisely a complementary role”: the Ukrainian execution system of the law can investigate and refer to criminal proceedings for all. war crimes, but Putin has personal immunity as the country’s president, and Ukraine cannot inform him of the suspicion.
The Prosecutor General assured that the productive work at the ICC will be continued.
“We have a plan for this year, there is a certain work strategy that I cannot disclose now, but the result of our joint work is already there,” he said.
