The minister expects that the representatives of the UOC-MP will let the commission for the transfer and reception of state property in the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

The Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko told Radio Liberty that he hopes that the representatives of the UOC-MP will “come to their senses” and establish a commission for the transfer and reception of state property on the territory of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

“We will see (if the commission is again not allowed on the territory of the Lavra – ed.). They hope for a court decision. The court decided to reject them, as they say, cancel our decision or suspend our Decision as a promise. That’s why we will act completely legally. I hope that the representatives of the UOC-MP will understand,” he said.

According to the head of the Ministry of Culture, in case of repeated obstruction of the work of the commission, the authorities will act according to the law – they will go to court.

“The law in this case provides that if it is not possible to take control for ourselves in a civilized way, we organize, as we recorded with the police today, a case of non-acceptance. And then the procedure for execution of those who do not want to obey the law is quite clear. If they did not allow it once – they fixed it, they did not let me in the second time – they fixed it, we filed a case for the third time,” said Tkachenko. .

According to him, the court has a short time to decide on the acceptance of representatives of the authorities, the state in these matters.

“If even after this court’s decision there is irresponsible behavior and obstruction of access to facilities, then law enforcement agencies and bailiffs must come into force,” explained the minister.

Recall that on March 29, the lease agreement between the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate was concluded. The UOC-MP must leave the territory of the shrine.

On March 30, the commission of the Ministry of Culture was not allowed on the premises of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The department contacted the police. On March 31, the commission again failed to enter the territory of the monastery.

The previous day, the court refused to secure the claim of the UOC-MP against the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve regarding the invalidity of the unilateral termination of the lease agreement.

The Cabinet of Ministers canceled Yanukovych’s order to transfer the affairs of the Lavra to the UOC-MP
