North Macedonia will hand over Mi-24 combat helicopters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Slovak MiG-29s are already protecting the sky of Kharkov. The government in Skopje has not officially released the number of helicopters that they plan to transfer to the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Earlier, the Minister of Defense of the country, Petrovskaya, reported that 12 helicopters were expected to be transferred.
Mi-24 helicopters were purchased from Ukraine in 2001, but their resource was exhausted eight years ago, that is, they are not used due to lack of spare parts, etc.
Some of them were modernized (two), but the modernization was adapted to those conditions and does not meet modern ones at all,” Petrovskaya said.
In addition, Slovakia handed over four MiG-29SA fighters to Ukraine. They are already protecting the sky over Kharkov. This was announced in the Slovak Parliament by Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Elena Kondratyuk.
On behalf of all Ukrainians whose lives are protected by aviation, I am very grateful to you,” she told the Slovak deputies.
Kondratyuk thanked Slovakia for all the humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine, weapons and other equipment, as well as for supporting Ukraine at the international level.
Recall, on March 1, Slovak Defense Minister Yaroslav Nagy said that his country was considering the possibility of transferring 10 of the Soviet-made MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine. On March 23, Ukraine received the first four MiG-29 fighters.
