A drone found in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation may have exploded the FSB border control building.
The fire that broke out on March 16 in the building of the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service in Rostov-on-Don may have been the result of a drone explosion that FSB officers tried to dismantle on their own. This was announced on March 29 by the Russian Telegram channel Baza.
It is known that one of the versions of the incident was a malfunction in the electrical wiring, which led to the explosion of fuels and lubricants. However, according to Baza, another version is being more actively evaluated, according to which a drone, discovered shortly before the explosion in the Rostov region, could have exploded the building.
“Concluding that it was a reconnaissance drone, the security services removed it and brought it to the border control. There, most likely, the security forces tried to inspect the UAV themselves and, if possible, take a record from on the camera to which it is fitted,” the message said.
Whether the attempt to dismantle the drone was a personal initiative of FSB officers or an order from the leadership is being investigated.
“However, while dismantling the UAV, it exploded, and then the fire spread to the warehouse. Three employees who dismantled the UAV died,” the report said.
According to Baza, the FSB authorities “remain unsatisfied” with the results of the Rostov border guard inspection. It turns out that his employees “do not always follow clear job descriptions, as well as safety regulations.”
It will be recalled that on March 16, a fire broke out in the building of the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the Rostov Region in Rostov-on-Don. One person was reported dead and two others were injured in the fire.
