President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Sumy region on March 28.
During a working trip, he presented Akhtyrka with an honorary distinction “hero city”. The head of state delivered a speech in the city square, where, together with those present, he honored the memory of all those who gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine with a minute of silence. This was reported in the President’s Telegram channel.
In our Akhtyrka, we honor the true Cossack courage and indestructibility of our people – our heroes … The border of Ukraine is not far from here. A border that no tyrant can erase. Ukrainians will live on their land, in their cities and villages, Zelensky said.
The head of state stressed that in Akhtyrka, as in many other cities, Ukrainians resisted the invaders – they destroyed enemy columns, thereby breaking the plans of the enemy.
As you know, on March 27, 2022, the active phase of the battles for Akhtyrka, Sumy region, ended.
Recall, on March 27, President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for the first time during a visit to Dnipro. We discussed, in particular, the general situation in the frontline areas, the strengthening and protection of Ukrainian borders along the entire length of the front – from the Kherson region to the Kharkov region.
