Taras Vysotsky noted that with the new harvest we should expect price reductions. According to him, the harvest is expected to be big this year.
Prices for vegetables in Ukraine reached a seasonal peak. However, a decrease in the value of these goods can be expected only with the arrival of a new crop. This was said by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky on the air of the telethon Unifying news.
“We understand that there is a certain seasonality. Of course, there will be a price reduction. It’s always like this, as the youth harvest, then all the vegetables, the price goes up, the price will go down,” he explained.
According to him, every spring vegetable is the most expensive. However, this year, two more factors have been added to the price. An energy crisis created by Russia because storage costs electricity. In addition, a significant part of the crop has deteriorated.
In addition, many vegetables, in particular, onions and carrots, are grown in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Due to the conquest of parts of these regions and the conduct of hostilities, the supply of these products decreased.
However, this year the sown areas under onions, carrots and other vegetables have increased in different regions of Ukraine.
“Agrarians are getting ready, and expect a bigger harvest this year,” Vysotsky said.
He added that “we have come through the most difficult period in terms of availability and price and availability.”
It should be noted that earlier farmers warned that some products will increase in price in Ukraine.
