Recall that last year on July 17, the president removed Bakanov from his duties as head of the SBU. Bakanov was eliminated under Article 47 of the Disciplinary Charter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which states: “Failure to perform (improper performance) of official duties that caused loss of life or other serious consequences or created a threat of such consequences is the basis for the removal of such a serviceman from the performance of official duties of communications” . On July 19, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Bakanov from his post.
On February 7, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada, on the proposal of the President, appointed Vasily Malyuk as the head of the SBU, who, from July 18, 2022, acted as the head of the special service.
