Icons began to disappear in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Correspondent of “Radio Liberty” Roksolana Bychai noticed in particular the places where they used to hang – at the exit from the distant caves of the reserve.

The publication asked several priests where the icons had gone – none answered. At the same time, other fathers said that they planned to take everything out of the reserve, except for the relics, because they consider all property, including icons, to be the property of the UOC-MP.

The reserve terminates the lease agreement with the UOC (MP) from March 29. Earlier, Metropolitan Pavel said that the monks would not leave the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. At the same time, Tkachenko confirmed that representatives of the UOC-MP had begun the process of leaving.

Today, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on the UN to “refrain from unbalanced assessments” regarding searches in the buildings of the UOC-MP.

Ukraine is a democratic state that guarantees freedom of religion. At the same time, freedom is not the same as the right to engage in activities that undermine national security.

The UN released the report of the Office of the High Commissioner on 24 March. According to his assessment, the Department is “concerned” that the actions of the authorities on the UOC-MP may be “discriminatory”.

The UN released the report on March 24. The department is “concerned” that the actions of the authorities on the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate may be “discriminatory”.

Starting from October 2022, the SBU conducted a series of searches at the facilities of the UOC-MP throughout Ukraine. As a result of investigative actions, among other things, law enforcement officers revealed “a large number of anti-Ukrainian materials”, as well as documents confirming the presence of Russian citizenship among the leadership of diocesan structures.

The UOC-MP has previously urged “not to kindle an internal war”, stating that accusations of collaborative activities against some priests are “unproven and unfounded”.

Last week, a delegation of the Synod of the UOC-MP came without warning to the Office of the President. The President of Ukraine did not receive priests. This branch of the Russian Orthodox Church must move out of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra before March 29.
