Russian President Putin announced his intention to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the desire of Russian President Vladimir Putin to place nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus “a step towards drawing the country into the war machine” of the aggressor country. About this on Sunday, March 26, at Twitter wrote Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Lukasz Jasina.

“Vladimir Putin’s decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons and their delivery vehicles in Belarus further increases the tension associated with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This is another step towards drawing Belarus in the cogs of the Russian military machine,” Yasina wrote.

He emphasized that Russia’s actions confirm the legitimacy and importance of NATO’s deterrence policy, in which Poland participates.

Remember, on March 25, Putin said that Moscow agreed with Minsk on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. He argues that this “will not violate the obligations under START.”

According to ISW, the actions of the President of the Russian Federation are part of an information campaign designed to increase Western fears about nuclear escalation.
