North Macedonia intends to transfer 12 combat helicopters to Ukraine.
The General Staff of this country agreed on the transfer of 12 Mi-24 helicopters to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. These “birds” were bought from Ukraine in 2001. To replace these helicopters, Skopje will buy new Western-style helicopters. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of North Macedonia Slavyanka Petrovskaya in an interview with Alsat TV channel.
All the equipment that has now been transferred, except for the fact that it is at the request of the Ukrainians, they need it and the equipment that the Ukrainian army skillfully uses,” she noted.
According to the Macedonian minister, this equipment, according to plans, is about to expire.
Petrovskaya stressed that the transfer of helicopters to Ukraine will not weaken the defense capability of Macedonia, since some of the helicopters have not been used for some time.
The decision of the General Staff must now be considered and approved by the Macedonian government.
Recall that Croatia has decided to transfer 14 Mi-8 helicopters to Ukraine. In particular, 12 Mi-8MTV-1 and two Mi-8T helicopters were withdrawn from the Croatian army. These “birds” underwent technical maintenance on the basis of the aviation technical center in Bolshaya Goritsa.
