Jeff Neal neutralized the intruder, who during the flight tried to open the plane’s emergency door and attacked the flight attendants.

In the United States, a citizen of a plane passenger was awarded the Award, which helped to neutralize a person who tried to fix the plane crash. On Saturday, March 25, the Voice of America reports.

It was learned that Jeff Neal, a former security guard, received a Citizen’s Award for his heroism, which was committed earlier this month aboard an airliner and recorded on video by another passenger.

At the ceremony, Neil said he doesn’t consider himself a hero, but just being in the right place at the right time.

The attacker, Francisco Torres, was arrested and charged with assaulting a flight attendant during the flight and illegally attempting to open the emergency door of a United Airlines plane.

45 minutes before the flight landed in Boston, the crew noticed that the aircraft’s door handle had been removed from its locked position.

Investigators said Torres admitted he knew that if the emergency exit was opened, many people could die. He is awaiting a psychiatric examination.

In the video, Torres threatens the flight attendants with a pointed metal spoon and loudly promises to create a “bloodbath”, after which he declares that he will “hijack this plane.”

Prosecutors said Torres approached two flight attendants and assaulted one of them. Neil, who was sitting in the back, immediately jumped out of his seat and tried to calm Torres down and defuse the situation. Immediately afterwards, he, with several passengers, seized the intruder and held him until he reached Boston.

Exeter Police Chief Stefan Pulin said Geoff Neal was “an example of what it means to be a hero and a leader”.

It was previously reported that in Brazil, women staged an epic fight on a plane over a window seat.
