There will be no full holiday season in Odessa this summer.
Today it is too early to say that the coast is a resort area. This is a defense zone,” said Natalya Gumenyuk, spokesman for the Yug Joint Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine today (UNIAN quotes her).
According to her, now the beaches pose a danger to citizens, since many territories have not yet been cleared of mines and other explosive objects.
The representative of the chairman of the Odessa regional administration, Sergei Bratchuk, said that “leisure and recreation centers” could be created in the city.
I think that all these issues will be coordinated and the wishes of entrepreneurs will be taken into account. After all, the economy must work, because it is she who is the defense of our state and the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Bratchuk said.
In June, July and August 2022, at least five civilian deaths were reported in the area of Odessa beaches, all of them were blown up by mines.
Russia last attacked Odessa and the region from the air on March 21 and 23.
