George Meloni reacted to Eliza Scutelli’s suggestion not to help Ukraine in dealing with the Russian Federation.
Italian Prime Minister George Meloni criticized the proposal to stop aid to Ukraine, one of the MPs revealed. He explains why it is important to continue to provide support. The corresponding video was posted by the Fratelli d’Italia party, which is led by the prime minister himself.
Deputy Eliza Scutelli during the meeting expressed the opinion that it is worth “stopping” the provision of aid to Ukraine.
“Maybe madam deputy you will tell this to Putin? I am surprised that you are telling us this. Why? This is probably a betrayal of our position. Because it means that we approve the invasion of Ukraine. Because if we stop – then we agree, let’s call a spade a spade, let’s approve the invasion of Ukraine!” Meloni said.
According to him, confusing the words “invasion” and “peace” is hypocritical. He also noted that for any negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, it is necessary that the aggressor country cease fire and withdraw its troops from the occupied territories.
“Do you think Moscow should be given the territories it occupied and where it held a “referendum” on self-determination? Or not? That’s what I want to hear if we’re serious about peace. If not, you’re making propaganda at the cost of the country, free people and international law, and it is irresponsible,” Meloni concluded.
Recall that Italy, as part of a new military aid package to Ukraine, will provide, in addition to the SAMP-T air defense system, two more complexes: Skyguard and Spike.
In addition, Ukraine asked Italy to provide a means of protection against nuclear weapons.
