This will help the ICC work more intensively and more effectively in Ukraine to investigate war crimes committed by Russia, said Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin.
The field office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) will start working in Ukraine. Ukrinform reported this on Thursday, March 23.
It is indicated that the corresponding agreement was signed today in The Hague at the ICC building. From Ukraine, the signature was placed by the Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin.
“The decision on this opening was made on March 3, and today we signed the relevant international document. This means that the team of the prosecutor Karim Khan will be able to work in Ukraine in more stable conditions. And it is will allow them not only to stay longer in Ukraine, but also to have an appropriate office that will be protected in all possible dimensions, including appropriate information protection,” said Kostin.
He believes this will help the ICC work more intensively and more effectively in Ukraine to investigate war crimes committed by Russia. The office will be opened in Kyiv.
Recall that on March 17, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Children’s Ombudsman Maria Alekseevna Lvovo-Belova. They are suspected of involvement in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
After that, negotiations with Russia were decided in Ukraine, while the “face of Putin” represented this country.
