In Zhytomyr, the SBU detained a man who was passing intelligence to the Wagnerites.
He is a former military man, deputy commander of a military unit. Recruited by the “Wagner” group was back in July last year.
For the occupiers, he collected information about the movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, personal data of the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and command personnel in the Zhytomyr region, recorded video surveillance systems.
Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained a traitor who retired in the early 1990s.
The ex-military handed over information about the Ukrainian forces because of the banned social network Vkontakte, which he actively used.
At the direction of the aggressor, he collected intelligence on the movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and was also interested in the personal data of the commanders of the Ukrainian troops in the region.
In addition, he recorded the coordinates of street video surveillance systems that are located near the buildings of state authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Relevant information was required by the enemy for planning and possible sabotage on the territory of Zhytomyr.
The traitor transmitted the information received to the “Wagnerites” through the exhausted channels of electronic communication in the form of photographs of maps with marks.
The counterintelligence officers of the SBU gradually documented the criminal actions of the Russian agent and detained him on the eve of his attempt to escape abroad.
During a search at the place of residence of the detainee, a laptop, mobile phone and maps of the region were found, which he used in explosive activities.
On the basis of the collected array of evidence, the SBU investigators informed the enemy’s henchman about the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).
