The head of the Ministry of Culture noted that the issue of long-term lease of the premises of the OCU Lavra has not yet been considered.
The spiritual monastic life and divine services must continue in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. How this will happen will become clear in the near future. This was stated by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has not yet considered the issue of long-term lease of Lavra premises. But possible changes to the law are being discussed with representatives so that the Ministry of Culture has the opportunity to transfer state property to religious organizations for free use.
“Far from the financial point of view, religious organizations do not always get rent. But apart from the Lower Lavra, the contracts for the use of property in Chernihiv and one of the churches in Pochaev have expired. Currently we are working here to conclude such contracts and sign the relevant certificates of transfer and acceptance,” said Tkachenko.
The head of the Ministry of Culture also noted that the interdepartmental commission is examining the safety of property in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, including more than 800 museum exhibits.
Recall that the UOC-MP clergy must leave the Lavra by March 29. The Ministry of Culture has promised to “stimulate” this process. The Kremlin expressed anger at the request for UOC monks to leave the Lavra in Kyiv.
