    The Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 9070, amending the legislation defining the powers of the “Joint Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Lut”, created in January this year.

    This was announced today, March 21, in his Telegram channel by People’s Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko.

    This bill:

    • amends Art. 2 of the law “On the legal regime of property in the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, which will allow the transfer of the necessary weapons and military equipment to the specified police assault brigade;
    • provides for the use of weapons and military equipment by police officers of special purpose in the implementation of measures to ensure national security and defense, repulse and deter armed aggression against Ukraine;
    • establishes that combat immunity also applies to special police officers of the National Police of Ukraine.

    In connection with the empowerment of special police officers of the National Police of Ukraine for the duration of martial law with additional powers, it is also necessary to introduce the possibility of bringing them to administrative and criminal liability for certain military offenses, taking into account the specifics of the activities of this body, the explanatory note of the bill says.
