In total, nearly 70 Chinese companies sold 26 different brands of Chinese drones to Russia last year.
Since the start of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine, Beijing has sent Moscow drones and spare parts for more than $12 million. The New York Times reported it.
According to the publication, whether the Chinese drones transferred to the Russian Federation contain American technology is unknown.
It was noted that Russia, through small intermediaries and exporters, received more drones from the Chinese company DJI, which is one of the most famous drone manufacturers in the world.
Official sales are likely only part of a larger flow of technology through informal channels and other Russian-friendly countries such as Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Belarus.
In total, nearly 70 Chinese companies have reportedly sold 26 different brands of Chinese drones to Russia over the past year. The second largest brand is Autel, with nearly $2 million in drone sales, with the last batch shipped in February 2023.
The publication recalled that the United States has imposed sanctions against Chinese companies that supply drones to Russia or exceed export controls. At the same time, efforts to isolate Russia from technology are complicated by China’s dominance of the global electronics supply chain.
It will be remembered that China explained the “friendship” with Russia.
As reported, on March 20, Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrived on a three-day visit to Russia.
In China, they discussed the negotiations between Xi Jinping and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
