Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner PPK, wrote to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were preparing an offensive near Bakhmut and urged him to prevent the “cutting off of forces” of a private military company from regular units of the Russian army.
A copy of the letter is posted in the telegram channel “Prigozhin’s Cap”, which is close to Prigozhin.
According to available information, in late March – early April, the enemy plans to launch a large-scale offensive and deliver flank cut-off strikes in order to cut off Wagner subdivisions from the main forces of the RF Armed Forces, the letter says.
Prigozhin urges Shoigu to take measures to prevent such a scenario. In his letter, he also claims that the Wagnerites control about 70% of Bakhmut.
The Ukrainian authorities insist that the situation in the Bakhmut region is difficult, but under control, and Ukrainian forces are repelling attacks by Russian troops, accompanied by a large number of casualties among the attackers.
Previously, Prigozhin has repeatedly criticized the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces and complained that his forces do not receive the necessary volumes of ammunition. Experts said that recently the influence of the founder of the PIK “Wagner” is declining, and the number of mercenaries is falling due to large combat losses.
The Wagnerites are fighting in the Bakhmut area, where the heaviest fighting continues, with a significant part of its forces being ex-prisoners.
