Germany will arrest Russian dictator Vladimir Putin if he arrives on the territory of the country, and the International Criminal Court in The Hague will require the implementation of the corresponding decision.
This was stated by German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann, according to Bild.
I expect that the ISS will soon turn to Interpol, as well as to the treaty states and ask them for the execution of the sentence, ”Buschmann noted and added that in this case, Germany would be obliged to detain Putin when he sets foot on its soil.
On March 17, the ISS announced the issuance of an arrest warrant for Putin and the children’s rights commissioner in Russia, Maria Lvova-Belova. The Court notes that there are “reasonable grounds” for believing that these persons are responsible for the deportation of children of Ukrainian citizens.
After the issuance of an ISS warrant, Putin can be arrested in states that are parties to the Rome Charter. These states are 123, but international law experts say that the Russian dictator should be wary of arrest in other countries.
In international law, it is increasingly being said that countries not party to the treaty may also be required to extradite the accused to The Hague, Bild quotes international law professor Marcel Cau.
So Putin is likely to feel really safe only in Russia, the newspaper notes.
