The spouses of the Ukrainian military are asking Xi Jinping to act as a guarantor during the procedure for getting their relatives to Turkey.
The wives of Mariupol defenders appealed to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, with a request to assist in the military rescue, to pull them out of the Azovstal steel plant surrounded by the Russian military by means of taking. They said this at a briefing on Saturday, May 14, according to Ukrinform.
They explained their appeal to Xi Jinping by saying the countries helping Ukraine had agreed to join the takeover, so they were not an authority for the Russian Federation. China is an economic ally of the Russian Federation and it carries more weight for Putin.
“Yes, they themselves (the defenders of Mariupol – ed.) See the only way for themselves – taking Turkey. This is true geographically. But we need a guarantor, and we hope that China will would be like a guarantor, ”relatives of the defenders said in a briefing.
Two days earlier, Mariupol defenders turned to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with a request to help rescue fighters from the Azovstal steel plant surrounded by the Russian military through extraction procedures.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the work on the evacuation of defenders from Mariupol.
Recall that Israel, Turkey and Switzerland are working to free the Mariupol defenders from the besieged Azovstal plant.
