The Russian Federation is trying to conduct offensive operations in the Donetsk region. Bakhmut remains the center of conflict.
Defense forces on Saturday, March 18, repelled Russian attacks in the northern part of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The city remains the center of conflict. This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the evening briefing.
The Russians continued to conduct offensive operations in the direction of Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky, Maryinsky and Miners.
It was noted that, not having the desired result on the battlefield, the Russian Federation uses terror tactics against the civilian population – shelling cities and villages, as well as critical infrastructure.
During the day, the enemy launched five missile strikes, four of them – on the civilian infrastructure of Zaporozhye. The Russians also conducted 12 air strikes and more than 20 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems. The probability of an enemy missile attack across Ukraine remains high.
The Russian occupiers continue to use civilian institutions in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporozhye region for their own needs. In particular, the enemy is using the construction of a school in one of the settlements of the Pologovsky district as a field hospital with 50 beds. Thus, the occupiers try to shorten the period for the return of personnel from sanitary losses.
In Rubizhne, Luhansk region, local work called authorities are forcing the population to obtain Russian citizenship. Ukrainian passports have not been taken away from people, however, for work it is necessary to have a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
During the day, the aircraft of the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched six strikes on areas where the invaders were concentrated. Also on this day, our defenders shot down an enemy UAV Shahed-136and missile troops and artillery units hit seven areas of concentration of enemy personnel and military equipment in one day.
Recall that the defenders of Ukraine in the past day eliminated 880 Russian invaders and destroyed 14 enemy UAVs, five tanks and seven armored vehicles.
