The announcement that Ukraine would soon receive MiG-29 fighter jets from Poland and Slovakia angered the Kremlin, just as the Russians and Ukrainians were trapped in the Bakhmut stronghold in the longest and bloodiest battle of the entire conflict.

“This is yet another example of how various NATO member countries are increasing their level of direct involvement in the conflict,” presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a daily telephone news conference.

The president UkraineVolodymyr Zelensky has requested combat aircraft from the West to counter Russian hegemony in the skies, which has been especially noticeable in recent months by the massive bombing of civilian infrastructure.

Polish and Slovak fighters

Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger announced on Twitter today that his country will supply 13 MiG-29 fighter jets to Kyiv to help it “defend against Russia”.

“Military assistance is the key to ensuring that Ukraine can protect itself and all of Europe from Russia”, he pointed out.

Slovakia, the country from which Zelensky ordered Soviet-made fighter jets in January, has a fleet of 14 MiG-29 fighters.

For its part, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced on Thursday that Warsaw would send four “fully operational” MiG-29 fighter jets to Poland. Ukraine In the coming days”.

Duda, the country with 28 such aircraft, explained that the rest of the MiG-29s are being prepared to be handed over to the Ukrainian army in the near future.

If Slovakia is waiting to receive 14 American F-16s, then Poland is waiting for Korean FA-50s and American F-35s.

In turn, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen assured this Thursday that a number of Western countries are discussing the possibility of sending combat aircraft to Ukraine with the support of Poles and Slovaks.

“Fighters have long been the desire of the Ukrainian side. This is what we are discussing among allied countries. But I will not go into details,” he said.

Moscow promises Kyiv new misfortunes

In response, the Kremlin warned that as part of the Russian military campaign in Ukraine “All such military equipment must be destroyed.”

“The supply of this military equipment, as we have repeatedly said, cannot affect the course of the special operation, but it can bring even more trouble to the country itself. Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,” Peskov said.

He assured that one does not have to be a “military expert” to understand that the supply of Western weapons will not affect the outcome of the war.

In addition, he also pointed out that “in this way, these countries are committed to deregistration of their old and useless equipment.”

Duda acknowledged that the MiG-29s he will deliver to Kiev are “in their last years of service” and Slovakia has not used the fighters since mid-2022 because the Russian company responsible for their maintenance suspended those services.

Bahmut, come on and take it

Meanwhile on the battlefield all eyes are on bahmutUkrainian stronghold, which forces Russia trying to conquer from the middle of 2022 in the Donetsk region.

“One of the units liquidated an enemy company and destroyed the Orlan-10 UAV (unmanned vehicle) in the last days of fighting at the front” (from bahmut), the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine reported on Telegram.

Ukrainian military insist they “continue to defend bahmut and that “every attempt by the enemy to move forward is repulsed”.

In the same vein, one of the defenders of the city, where there will be no standing house, stressed on local television that the intensity of the Russian artillery shelling has decreased in recent days and the enemy has gone on the defensive.

Meanwhile, the interim leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, today on the air of the First Russian Channel, stressed that the Wagner mercenaries managed to strengthen their positions at the Vostokmash plant.

“Now we are moving through the industrial zone (…). Wagner assault units continue to move towards the city center, pushing the enemy to the north and south. Several attempts to escape were recorded by several Ukrainian platoons, but they were interrupted by our units. The situation has long been moving towards the liberation of the city” , he stressed.

Although some experts argue that its significance is relative, the NSDC Secretary UkraineAlexei Danilov stressed on Friday that the General Staff unanimously believe that bahmut “It’s very important, it’s a key moment.”

“We understand that this is annoying for some, and there are those who think that we should leave. But this is our land, and we have the right to defend it (…) bahmut this is our strength,” he said. (According to EFE)
