The President of Ukraine signed a law introducing compensation in Ukraine for the property of individuals damaged and destroyed as a result of hostilities. This was reported on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The document specifies legal and organizational principles for the state to provide compensation for damage and destruction of certain categories of real estate as a result of hostilities, starting on February 24, 2022. The law will not apply to those facility that was in the temporarily occupied territory on the date of the introduction of martial law.
Only citizens of Ukraine are entitled to compensation. Compensation will be provided exclusively for damaged or destroyed residential property: apartments, other residential premises (for example, dormitory rooms), manor-type houses, gardens and country houses, construction objects where the supporting and exterior are being built structure.
Owners of destroyed apartments and other residential premises will get a housing certificate confirming the state guarantee to finance the purchase of an apartment or other residential premises in the amount of a certain amount of money , and can choose a location in Ukraine to use the housing certificate.

The sources of compensation funding are state and local budget funds; international financial organizations, other creditors and investors; international technical and/or reimbursable or non-reimbursable financial assistance; reparations and other sanctions from the Russian Federation.
