The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has issued international warrants for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported in a press release from the court on Friday, March 17.
“Today, the Second Pretrial Chamber of the International Criminal Court issued warrants for the arrest of two people in the context of the situation in Ukraine: Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Mrs. Maria Alekseevna Lvova-Belova (Ombudsman for Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation – ed.),” said the press release. The court explained that Putin and Lvova-Belova were suspected of illegally deporting Ukrainian children.
The previous day, the UN investigative commission said that the departure of Ukrainian children to Russia could be considered a war crime.
Earlier it was reported about the meeting of Vladimir Putin with Maria Lvova-Belova. Then he said that in Russia the number of those wishing to “adopt” Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is allegedly growing.
