The only thing that can stop this negative impact on the environment is peace, said the executive director of the UN Environment Programme.
The United Nations does not use the term “ecocide” – there is no definition for it. The Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Inger Andersen, said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
He noted that “ecocide” is a “strong” word, even though it is not in the UN lexicon.
In his opinion, the environment is never in a good state after wars, wherever they happen.
“However, the only thing that can stop this negative impact on the environment is peace,” Andersen added.
Remember that the UN found no evidence of genocide of Ukrainians.
