Ankara banned the service of aircraft of American origin, which are under the control of the Russian Federation and Belarus. The corresponding decision was made in accordance with US sanctions.
Turkish authorities have banned the refueling and maintenance of aircraft of American origin if they are associated with the Russian Federation and Belarus. This was stated in a statement by the Turkish Ministry of Customs and Trade, quoted by AirportHaber.
“According to the decision taken, since March 14, the provision of various services to aircraft manufactured in the United States and under Russian-Belarusian control has been discontinued,” the article said.
In this context, refueling and related services are prohibited for private, cargo, commercial, charter aircraft or aircraft manufactured in any other country that contain more than 25% raw materials originating from US if they are destined for Russia or Belarus.
The decision was made pursuant to a letter from the US Department of Commerce’s Office of Industry and Security Export Practices.
It will be recalled that on February 26, 2022, the EU authorities decided to completely ban the supply and leasing of aircraft, helicopters and other aircraft to Russia, as well as their insurance and maintenance.
In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing Russian airlines not to return aircraft leased from foreign companies.
