According to the WHO fact sheet, from February 13 to March 12, 4,069,065 cases of infection and 27,955 deaths were recorded in the world.
Within 28 days, most cases were seen in the United States – 919,961 people. It was followed by Japan – 380,898, China – 370,020, Russia – 350,376 and Germany – 338,306.
Most of the deaths from February 13 to March 12 were registered in the USA – 9,303 people, Japan – 2,598, Great Britain – 2,217, Brazil – 1,648 and China – 1,586.
As of March 16, the WHO has received reports of 760.3 million infections and 6.8 million deaths from COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
Earlier, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the COVID-19 pandemic will end in 2023.
