In California, during an unsuccessful hijacking attempt, a light Bell 429 helicopter crashed. This was reported on March 16 by the NBC television channel, citing a police statement.
It is known that the incident happened at night at the Sacramento airport. The alleged hijacker fled and no one was reported injured.
No one is in custody at this time, the investigation is still in its early stages, police said.
According to the TV channel, the helicopter belongs to Capitol Helicopters. He clarified that the aircraft was badly damaged.
In addition, several other company helicopters were damaged. The Federal Bureau of Investigation joined the investigation.
