Specialists noted an upward trend in the Consumer Sentiment Index and an improvement in the Devaluation Expectations Index.
The consumer sentiment index in Ukraine in February 2023 increased by 2.7 points and reached 86.5 points. In addition, indices of the efficiency of making large purchases, expected changes in the financial situation and expected economic development in the next year have increased. This is confirmed by the data of the monthly survey of the company Info Sapiens.
The current position index (CSI) rose to 48.1, which is 1.7 points higher than the level of this indicator in January.
The Economic Expectations Index (EPI) increased by 3.4 points in February and was at 112.2 points.
The index of the expected dynamics of unemployment in February decreased by 4.1 points and was 125.2 points.
The inflation expectations index increased by 0.2 points and reached 178.2 points, while the devaluation expectations index decreased by 12.8 points and reached 135.1 points.
“The consumer sentiment index continues to remain unchanged, there is only a cautious upward trend in February. At the same time, the Devaluation Expectations Index has improved. Confidence in the national currency and jobs are now the highest since the winter of 2021-2022,” – commented Sapiens.
The consumer sentiment index in Ukraine is determined based on a sample survey of households in the country. The study surveyed 1,000 people aged 16 and over.
Index values can vary from 0 to 200. The value is 200 if all citizens assess the economic situation positively. The index is equal to 100 when the shares of positive and negative ratings are equal. An index value of less than 100 means that negative assessments dominate the society.
Recall that in February, the fall in GDP reached 26%, which is much better than in January, which reached 32%.
