The United States is now sending hundreds of Western tanks and armored vehicles to Ukraine, shells, special equipment for building bridges – everything needed for a counter-offensive.
The military command of Ukraine has not yet decided on the strategy of the counteroffensive, which is planned for May, but it has two options. On Wednesday, March 15, Politico reported, citing unnamed senior US officials.
It was noted that the first scenario moved south through Kherson to Crimea, and the second moved east from its northern position and then south, cutting the Russian land corridor.
At the same time, the first option is called unrealistic, because Russia has dug in its defenses on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River, and Ukraine does not have the manpower for a successful landing operation of this type. The second option is more likely, officials said.
The publication notes that the United States is now committed to helping Kyiv prepare for a counteroffensive. Hundreds of Western tanks and armored vehicles, shells, special equipment for building bridges are now on their way to Ukraine – everything needed for a counter-offensive. In addition, a five-week exercise of 600 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was recently completed, which improved shooting skills, medicine, as well as control of Bradley combat vehicles and American-made Stryker armored personnel carriers. The second batch of soldiers is currently undergoing training.
The publication also notes that behind closed doors, US officials insisted that Kyiv save artillery shells, however, among officials there is still an opinion that it is not necessary to tell Ukraine how to fight .
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine named three factors for a successful offensive.
The Russians gasped. Where will the Armed Forces of Ukraine compete?
