The United States supports the decision of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to defend Bakhmut.
The Pentagon believes that the Ukrainians did something extraordinary in the Bakhmut region, because the invaders have been trying to take this city for seven months, but thanks to the Defense Forces they have not had significant success there. This was announced on March 15 at a briefing after the 10th meeting in the Ramstein-10 format by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
He noted that if Zelensky ordered a regrouping of forces, this would not mean losing the war with Russia. The American minister stressed that the decision on the battles for Bakhmut is made exclusively by Kiev.
We will support any decision by Zelensky. We now hope to give the Ukrainians the opportunity to change the dynamics on the battlefield,” he said.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Cherevaty, on the air of a telethon on March 15, said that the Defense Forces destroyed six Russian field artillery depots in the Bakhmut direction in a day. According to him, the enemy continues to actively use artillery in the Bakhmut and Limansko-Kupyansk directions.
Recall, on March 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a regular meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, at which the defense of the Bakhmut direction was considered. All members of the Headquarters expressed a common position on the further maintenance and protection of the city.
