The beating by Russia of an American drone over the Black Sea was commented on by the Pentagon.
This dangerous episode is part of Russia’s system of aggressive, risky and dangerous actions in international airspace. US aviation will continue to fly and operate in accordance with international law. This was announced on March 15 by Secretary of Defense of the United States of America Lloyd Austin, reports CNN.
So rest assured that the United States will continue to fly and operate wherever international law allows. And Russia is obliged to operate its military aviation safely and professionally,” Austin said before a virtual meeting in the Ramstein format.
And White House spokesman John Kirby, in an interview with CNN on March 15, said that the MQ-9 reconnaissance drone has not been located and may never be found, given the depth of the Black Sea where it fell.
And Russian TASS reported that Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Russian Security Council, said that the aggressor country would try to get a downed drone from the bottom of the sea.
Recall that on March 14, in the Black Sea, Russian Su-27 aircraft shot down an American reconnaissance and strike drone MQ-9 Reaper, which was performing an operation in international airspace over the Black Sea.
Subsequently, the White House announced that the United States would continue to fly over the Black Sea. Washington noted that the drone attacked by Russia was in international airspace. Washington also sees no reason to contact Moscow over American drone flights over the Black Sea.
