The bride of the Hero of Ukraine Dmitry Kotsyubaylo (Da Vinci), who died in Bakhmut, the head of the ULF medical service, Alina Mikhailova, handed over his personal combat chevron to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
On the Day of the Ukrainian Volunteer, Mikhailova received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree from the hands of the head of state.
Dmitry Kotsyubaylo was the commander of the 1st separate mechanized battalion of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Da Vinci Wolves”. He participated in the revolution of dignity, and in 2014 he went to defend Ukraine as a military man. Then Dmitry was 18 years old. In 2014, he was seriously wounded in the Donetsk region, but after recovering he returned to the front. In 2021, Da Vinci received the title of Hero of Ukraine, becoming the youngest commander and the first volunteer to be awarded this title during his lifetime. Da Vinci died on March 7 during the fighting in Bakhmut.
You have to fight for your freedom. If you do not want to be in the yoke or become a slave, you need to fight. Those who give their lives here understand that they are doing it so that their loved ones, relatives, and children can live in a free Ukraine,” said Dmitry Kotsyubaylo.
