Cylinder containing radioactive substance disappeared from a Thai power plant, authorities said on Tuesday, warning of serious health risks from direct exposure.
Staff at a coal-fired power plant in Prachinburi Province, east of Bangkoknoticed the disappearance of a steel pipe 30 centimeters long and 13 centimeters wide during a routine inspection on Friday.
Weekend searches found no bottles of cesium-137said Kittifan Chitpentham, a member of the state power company that owns the plant.
The company believes that a few days ago the pipe fell from a wall bracket about 18 meters high.
In the study
Radiation tests carried out at the plant show that it has already been removed from the facility.
“We are asking the local population to help us find him,” he said. AFP Narong Nakornjinda, Governor of Prachinburi Province.
The missing cylinder is part of the device used to measure the pressure of the plant’s steam column.
The authorities did not specify the number cesium-137 containing.
Authorities are trying to identify the person who took the top hat from CCTV footage. (AFP)
