A large part of the mine remains agricultural land that needs to be cultivated.
Due to Russian mines and shells, 170,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory remain inaccessible for any occupation. This was announced on Monday, March 13, by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Today, more than 170,000 square kilometers of our territory remains dangerous due to unexploded mines and enemy shells,” the head of state said.
He emphasized that a large part of this territory is agricultural land that needs to be enriched.
The President mentioned that the day before he discussed with the military and officials how to speed up the clearance of the territories.
“Today we discussed how to intensify this work: accelerate humanitarian demining, increase relevant cooperation with partners. And we discussed how to support our farmers. The second sowing season began during a massive war,” Zelensky said.
The VRU said about five million hectares of agricultural land are still unusable due to mining, contamination by explosive residues or ongoing fighting.
Russia did not invent high-tech developments in the production of mine weapons itself, but only steals.
